1. Everyone in North Korea is supposed to follow this rule.
No matter who you are, even if you are Kim Jong Un, you are not supposed to get married on February 16, which stands for the day Kim Jong II was born and April 15, the day when Kim Jong- II was born. The day is supposed to be a day when everyone has to bring flowers, wear traditional attires and offer prayers at their statues.
2. The wife, Ri Sol-Ju is supposed to portray a specific perception of her husband.
Ri Sol- Ju is supposed to represent the progressive and modern side of her husband, hence, she ought to dress up in modernity and liberally while his sister is supposed to represent his traditional side.
3. She has to shed her birth name and adopt a pseudonym.
While it is quite common for a woman to adopt her husband’s name after the wedding, Ri Sol-Ju has to go a case further. In her case, she has to leave her birth name and adopt a new name.
4. Ri Sol-Ju is no longer allowed to meet her family.
It is nothing like she has a busy life and cannot meet her family but her lifestyle does not let her have leisurely escapes to meet her family.
5. She is only allowed to make restricted appearances.
The First Lady of North Korea is only allowed to make special appearances and not every time. The First Lady and her children have to lead a secret life while getting rid of speculations and rumors.
6. Security Protocols
As her movement is very restricted it is impossible for her to have a social life. Her movement is supervised under high security and she cannot be seen in any case.
7. She is allowed to visit the mourning sites.
While in countries, the First Lady is not allowed to visit the mourning sites, she has been spotted at the mourning sites and greeting her father in law and grandfather in law along with her husband.
It was reported that she was supposed to have a kid right after marriage. She was even forced to give birth to her first kid right after marriage. She was also put under a lot of pressure when it comes to giving birth to a son to carry the legacy forward. One of the strict rules she has to follow.
9. Her past is kept totally a secret.
Forget about keeping her past relationships at bay, even details about her graduation, college life, and family are kept hidden from everyone.
10. King asked Ri Sol-Ju’s past band performances CD’s to be burnt to ashes.
While it is being reported that Ri Sol-Ju was a band performer, her CD’s and performances were burnt and deleted.
11. She has to give up on everything that is hers to live the life of the First Lady.
Not just her career but Ri Sol-Ju had to give up on her decisions, life, choices etc also.
Looks like being North Korea’s First Lady isn’t as easy as it might look like her life is no more hers and she has to follow some really strict rules.
