1. Disconnection from a hopeful future
This is one of those things which might come after a number of failures. It is important to know that it’s okay to fail, it is okay to give everything one more try.
2. Disconnection from meaningful work
If your work is no way related to what you like doing and is totally meaningless to you, leave it asap. I know that sometimes there are reasons which make you stick to your job no matter how bad it is, try to move out. Save yourself from falling into the hands of depression.
3. Disconnection from childhood trauma
A person’s childhood shapes his/her future, behavior, characteristics and everything as such. And I guess, everyone is going to agree on this is that if you have had a traumatic childhood then the chances of you getting depressed are high. If you still are haunted by things that went wrong, you might want to see a psychiatrist or at least a therapist about it.
4. Disconnection from the natural world
It is important to stay connected to the natural world. With the advancement of technology, people are actually forgetting that a real world exists as well. Don’t stay in front of a screen for a long time. Go out and breathe.
5. Disconnection from other people
There are people who feel totally disconnected from the world. For them, everyone else is either having fun and they are not or they just don’t feel the connection. If this happens, try to find people who actually have the same thoughts as you, get in talk sessions and participate.
This is one of those reasons which immediately should be treated. If either the mother or the father or anyone in the generation above has gone through the phase of depression then it might happen that the person can inherit it as well.
7. Disconnection from status and respect
If a person has been subjected to abuse and torture, be it verbal or physical or mental then, he/she may slip into the phase where nothing else would matter to them. Status, respect, self-respect and everything as such would just become words for them. Avoid this, make everyone realize that they matter.
8. Disconnection from meaningful values
Values add up to our life, they make us human and give us the consciousness of a sane person. If you ever feel disconnected from such values or if you come across people who are going through this, ask him/her to see a therapist asap.
9. Brain changes
One of those reasons which should not be ignored. The thing is, people think seeing a psychiatrist or a therapist is a taboo. Trust me, this totally wrong. Therapy has been helping people since forever. There are tests like beck tests for depression or anxiety attack which can be taken easily.
